Privacy Policy

Quick Translate uses Chrome's built-in Translator to process requested website text on your device. Website text is not sent to Google Translate or the developer. It does not operate an analytics server, display ads, or sell user data.

What Quick Translate handles

• Website text you request: after you accept the in-extension notice and enable translation, Quick Translate may read the sentence under your pointer when automatic hover translation is on, or the text you select. A translation request is limited to 5,000 characters. Because you choose the text, it may include a personal message or other sensitive content if you explicitly ask the extension to translate that content; Quick Translate does not identify or categorize it.
• Translation choices: the selected source and target languages are used by Chrome's built-in language detection and Translator APIs on your device.
• Extension settings: consent and enabled status, automatic-hover preference, source and target languages, translation delay, original-text display preference, and panel font size are stored with Chrome Storage.

How the data is used

The requested text and language choices are processed on your device only to return the translation you asked for. Quick Translate does not use this information for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, analytics, or any unrelated purpose.

Sharing and third-party processing

Quick Translate does not send requested website text or translation results to an external translation service or developer-operated server. Chrome may download and manage language packs required by its on-device Translator API, but the requested website text is not included with those language-pack downloads.

If Chrome Sync is enabled, Chrome may sync extension settings through the Google account signed in to Chrome. The developer does not operate a translation, analytics, or storage server and does not receive the requested text, translation results, or settings.

Storage and retention

• A page may keep recent translation results in temporary memory until that page is reloaded, navigated away from, or its tab is closed. Translated text is not written to persistent extension storage.
• Chrome manages downloaded translation language packs under Chrome's own storage rules.
• Extension settings remain in Chrome Storage until you change them, remove the extension, or clear the applicable Chrome data. Chrome may retain synced settings according to the user's Chrome Sync configuration.
• If you choose Copy, Read, or Save, Chrome uses the clipboard, browser or operating-system speech service, or a downloaded TXT file at your direction. Files and clipboard contents are controlled by you and are not uploaded by the developer.

Data Quick Translate does not collect

• No browsing history or list of visited pages.
• No independent access to account credentials, passwords, cookies, payment information, or precise location.
• No transmission of requested website text or translation results to Google Translate or the developer.
• No behavioral analytics, advertising identifiers, or telemetry sent to the developer.
• No sale of data and no transfer to advertising platforms or data brokers.

Your controls

Quick Translate remains off until you accept its data notice. You can turn automatic hover translation off, disable the extension, reload or close a tab to clear that page's temporary cache, remove the extension, and manage synced extension data through Chrome. When the extension is disabled, it does not process text for translation.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Quick Translate's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. User data is used only to provide the extension's disclosed translation functionality.

Changes to this policy

If Quick Translate changes how it handles user data, this policy and the disclosure inside the extension will be updated before the changed practice is used.
